How To Make pork style dressing
-
Step 1You will want to fry the bacon until somewhat crispy. Save the drippings back for the country cornbread.
-
Step 2Now you will want to make the Country Cornbread. <---------------------------------------------------------------------> 1. Put the bacon drippings in a cast-iron skillet and place on 400 degrees in the oven. 2. Combine the cornmeal and flour, then mix in the egg and milk. Add water slowly, until the mixture is pourable (like thick pancake batter). 3. Take the hot pan from the oven, pour some of the bacon drippings (a tablespoon or more) into the batter, then pour the batter into the hot pan. Place back in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the outer crust is golden brown. 4. After the cornbread is done you will want to set it aside and let it cool so you can crumble it for the dressing. <--------------------------------------------------------------------->
-
Step 3You can now fry the sausage, onions, celery, and bell pepper until the sausage is browned.
-
Step 4Now you want to add the cornbread, crumbled bacon, sausage mixture, creamed soups, seasonings, and broth to a large bowl.
-
Step 5Blend with a potato masher until the mixture is the consistency of gelatin.
-
Step 6May need to add more broth as necessary to attain desired consistency.
-
Step 7Transfer to a baking dish and bake in preheated oven of 375 degrees. You will want to cook it until golden brown.
