sw's pinto beans
Pinto beans was one of my favorites growing up. My hubby loves to crumble cornbread in his. This was one of JAP's "this could be you" recipes that I adopted. I tweeked it quite a bit to my liking. I hope that you will give this a try. Cooking with Passion, sw :)

Ingredients
- 2 cups pinto beans **dried**
- 3 - ham hocks **fav smoked meats**
- 2 bottles beer, dark
- 3 cups water
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped
- 4 medium garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 medium habanero pepper, fresh & chopped
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons cumin powder
- 1 tablespoon ham base
- - sea salt to taste
- - sugar to taste
How To Make sw's pinto beans

Step 1Soak beans for 6-8 hours. Fill 5 quart crock pot with water & beer. Add ham hocks, onion, garlic & ham base. Cover & cook on high for 2 hours. Meat should be tender

Step 2Add beans and remaining ingredients. Cover and cook for 5 additional hours on low heat. Serve with cornbread. Yummy eats!!!
