peggi's best baked beans

My Mom made these beans since I could remember. I have made them for about 43 years now. Some aquaintences of ours where we used to live, owned a BBQ place. His wife made baked beans there also. He liked these so well, he would pay me to make him a big pot to take home. Hope you like them as well.

Ingredients

  • 3 cans (regular) pork & beans
  • 1 medium onion, cut into slivers
  • 1 - bell pepper, chopped ( not fine)
  • 1/2 pound bacon, cut into bite size pieces & cooked
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 3 dashes worcestershire sauce

How To Make peggi's best baked beans

  • Step 1
    Lightly brown bacon in skillet,along with the peppers & onions.
  • Step 2
    If beans have alot of juice in them, drain about half off each can of pork & beans & pour into large casserole dish.
  • Step 3
    Add all of the remaining ingredients, including the bacon mixture & bacon grease. Stir well, making sure brown sugar lumps dissolve.
  • Step 4
    Bake @350° for about 1 1/2 hours, until thick.
  • Step 5
    Remove from oven & let set about 30 minutes before serving.
