  • 3 c
    navy beans, dried
  • 1 medium
    onion, chopped
  • 4-5 slice
  • 3 Tbsp
  • 1/4 c
  • 1/4 c
    barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce

How to Make Old Fashioned Baked Beans


  1. Soak beans overnight. Then cook for 1-2 hours. Drain and reserve liquid.
  2. Pour beans in a 9x13" baking dish. Top with chopped onions and bacon. Set aside.
  3. Add all remaining ingredients to saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook for about 1 minute.
  4. Pour over beans. Add enough reserved liquid to cover beans.
  5. Cover with foil and bake at 325° for 2 hours.
  6. Remove foil. Add liquid if necessary to keep beans from drying out.
  7. Cook uncovered for about 1-1 1/2 hours.
    Serve hot.
