this has always been my moms recipe, ive eaten it since i was 2. (earliest i can remember) as kids we hated them but have grown quite fond of them. everyone raves about them now.

Ingredients For mom's unbaked beans (to die for)

  • 1 pkg
    12 oz. bacon, lots of fat on it (need the grease)
  • 4 can
    pork n beans (don't drain yet)
  • 1 lg
    onion, sliced in halves (half moon)
  • 1 lg
    bellpepper seeded and sliced thinly
  • 1 box
    dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    frenchs mustard (maybe a little more)

How To Make mom's unbaked beans (to die for)

    in a cast iron skillet, fry bacon till crisp set aside. use bacon grease to sautee your onion and belpepper till tender.

    Drain beans into the onion mix in skillet, then add whole box of brown sugar and mustard blend completely. (i always taste mine here, if it needs more mustard add it little by little) should be tangy yet sweet. allow to cook till thick. usually mom lets it cook forever lol. around 1 hour or so. when your ready to eat add the beans then because they do get hard if left in while cooking.
