My Mom, Doris St. John, made these beans since the 1970s. They are great for BBQs, and picnics, or any large gathering. I am not sure where she got the recipe, but these beans are addictive…once you have a bite you can’t stop! Miss you Mom!????

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb
    bacon
  • 1
    chopped onion
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1/3 c
    cider vinegar
  • 1-15 oz
    can butter beans
  • 1-15 oz
    can green beans
  • 1-15 oz
    can kidney beans
  • 1-15 oz
    garbanzo beans
  • 1-28 oz
    can baked beans
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed

How to Make BEST EVER BEAN CASSEROLE-Doris St John

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven 350 degrees
  2. Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-high until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.
  3. Sauté onion in bacon fat; add the brown sugar, mustard, and vinegar.
  4. Cook on low for 10 minutes.
  5. In a large baking dish or roasting pan, combine butter beans, green beans, kidney beans, garbanzo beans and baked beans.
  6. Add bacon mixture
  7. Mix well, and bake covered for 1 hour. Uncover and bake 30 minutes longer.
  8. Enjoy!
