My Mom, Doris St. John, made these beans since the 1970s. They are great for BBQs, and picnics, or any large gathering. I am not sure where she got the recipe, but these beans are addictive…once you have a bite you can’t stop! Miss you Mom!????

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound bacon
  • 1 - chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 1-15 ounce can butter beans
  • 1-15 ounce can green beans
  • 1-15 ounce can kidney beans
  • 1-15 ounce garbanzo beans
  • 1-28 ounce can baked beans
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven 350 degrees
  • Step 2
    Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-high until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.
  • Step 3
    Sauté onion in bacon fat; add the brown sugar, mustard, and vinegar.
  • Step 4
    Cook on low for 10 minutes.
  • Step 5
    In a large baking dish or roasting pan, combine butter beans, green beans, kidney beans, garbanzo beans and baked beans.
  • Step 6
    Add bacon mixture
  • Step 7
    Mix well, and bake covered for 1 hour. Uncover and bake 30 minutes longer.
  • Step 8
