This was my grandmother's recipe from the 1950s. Slow cooked, flavor infused beans, more like a main dish than a side dish. Excellent for family gatherings and pot lucks!

  • 3/4 lb
    ground beef
  • 32 oz
    pork and beans
  • 16 oz
    barbeque beans
  • 1
    medium onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 c
    green bell pepper, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 c
    red bell pepper, coarsely chopped
  • 1 1/2 c
    dark brown sugar, packed
  • 3/4 c
  • 1/2 c
  • 1 Tbsp
    prepared yellow mustard
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove
    garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp
    seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    lemon-pepper seasoning
  • 5 slice

How to Make Molasses Baked Beans


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Stir fry ground beef just until browned; drain well.
  3. Combine all ingredients except for the bacon. Mix well.
  4. Pour into a 13x9x2 ovenproof baking dish and lay the bacon strips on the top.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours.
