Ingredients
- 2 cups dried white beans
- 1 1/2 quarts water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 pound salted pork
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 2 cups cooking liquid from beans
- pinch thyme
- pinch pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
How To Make maple syrup baked beans

Step 1Soak the dry beans in water overnight.

Step 2Drain the beans and rinse well in cold water.

Step 3Place the beans in a medium casserole, add 1-1/2 quarts water and salt. Bring to boil, cover and cook on medium for 30 minutes.

Step 4Drain the beans and save the cooking liquid.

Step 5Place the beans and salted pork in a bean pot or a cast iron casserole.

Step 6Mix 2 cups of reserve cooking liquid, 1/2 cup maple syrup, thyme, mustard and onion. Pour on top of beans, cover and cook for 6 hours at 250F.

Step 7Uncover, add the other 1/2 cup maple syrup and cook for 30 minutes.
