This is a sweeter version of baked beans for those who like maple flavored dishes.

  • 2 c
    dried white beans
  • 1 1/2 qt
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/4 lb
    salted pork
  • 1/2 c
    maple syrup
  • 2 c
    cooking liquid from beans
  • pinch
  • pinch
  • 1/2 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1/2 c
    onion, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    maple syrup

How to Make Maple Syrup Baked Beans


  1. Soak the dry beans in water overnight.
  2. Drain the beans and rinse well in cold water.
  3. Place the beans in a medium casserole, add 1-1/2 quarts water and salt. Bring to boil, cover and cook on medium for 30 minutes.
  4. Drain the beans and save the cooking liquid.
  5. Place the beans and salted pork in a bean pot or a cast iron casserole.
  6. Mix 2 cups of reserve cooking liquid, 1/2 cup maple syrup, thyme, mustard and onion. Pour on top of beans, cover and cook for 6 hours at 250F.
  7. Uncover, add the other 1/2 cup maple syrup and cook for 30 minutes.
