This is a sweeter version of baked beans for those who like maple flavored dishes.

dried white beans
1 1/2 qt
1 tsp
1/4 lb
salted pork
1/2 c
maple syrup
2 c
cooking liquid from beans
1/2 tsp
dry mustard
1/2 c
onion, chopped
1/2 c
maple syrup

How to Make Maple Syrup Baked Beans


  • 1Soak the dry beans in water overnight.
  • 2Drain the beans and rinse well in cold water.
  • 3Place the beans in a medium casserole, add 1-1/2 quarts water and salt. Bring to boil, cover and cook on medium for 30 minutes.
  • 4Drain the beans and save the cooking liquid.
  • 5Place the beans and salted pork in a bean pot or a cast iron casserole.
  • 6Mix 2 cups of reserve cooking liquid, 1/2 cup maple syrup, thyme, mustard and onion. Pour on top of beans, cover and cook for 6 hours at 250F.
  • 7Uncover, add the other 1/2 cup maple syrup and cook for 30 minutes.
