This is a rich, moist cornbread dressing. Who needs turkey? Just give me the dressing!!! This is my mother's recipe.

Ingredients For mama's cornbread dressing

1 boxcornbread mix, mixed according to the box

6eggs
-
2-3celery stalks, diced
-
1 lgonion, diced
- INGREDIENTS FOR DRESSING

baked cornbread, cooled & crumbled

1 pkgherb seasoned dressing mix
-
1 cancream of mushroom soup
-
1 cancream of chicken soup
-
1 canchicken broth
-
1 tsppoultry seasoning
How To Make mama's cornbread dressing

1Mix the cornbread mix according to box directions, except increase the eggs to 6.

2Add the diced celery and onion to the cornbread batter.

3Bake at temperature suggested on the box in an iron skillet, if possible, until cornbread is golden brown and done in the middle (check by sticking a sharp knife into the center) Cornbread may be baked 2-3 days before dressing is to be made.

4Crumble cooled cornbread, and then add the remainder of the ingredients. Bake in a 350 degree oven until dressing is as done as YOU like it....about 30-45 minutes. Don't overcook or it will be dry.
