Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup oil
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 1/4 cups whole milk
How To Make maddy's southern sweet cornbread

Step 1Put first five dry ingredients in a large bowl. Mix together by hand with a whisk. Good cornbread is best mixed by hand without the use of electric kitchen instruments.

Step 2Add remaining four wet ingredients to the bowl one at a time, while whisking until combined and the batter is smooth.

Step 3Pour into a greased (I use vegetable oil) 8 X 10 baking pan.

Step 4Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes until the top is slightly golden color and a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center.
