"lifted" baked beans

My husband was traveling for work and had dinner with a coworker and his family. They made a side of baked beans. When he talked about it, I immediately discounted the recipe because it included butter beans. Yuk! This recipe has been shared with family and friends and has even been published. I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients For "lifted" baked beans

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 md
    yellow onion
  • 2 can
    pork and beans
  • 1 can
    kidney beans
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground mustard
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 c
    ketchup

How To Make "lifted" baked beans

    Set oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 13x9 pan with baking spray.

    Drain and rinse the kidney beans.

    Dice onion. Fry onion with ground beef. Drain fat.
  • 4
    Combine meat mixture with the remaining ingredients in the baking pan (less pans to wash!). Stir ingredients and level in pan.

    Bake for 45 minutes. We find it is best when the liquid has been cooked in. Good hot or cold.
