How to Make Hush Puppies
- Combine first 5 ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- Add remaining ingredients; stir well.
- Let batter stand 5 minutes.
- Carefully drop batter by level tablespoonfuls into deep hot oil (370 degrees); cook only a few at a time, turning once.
- Fry 3 to 5 minutes or until hush puppies are golden brown.
- Drain well on paper towels.
- Yield: about 2 dozen.
