Ingredients
- 1 bunch green onions, white and dark green parts separated
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups water
- salt and pepper
- grits
- 2 cups grated white cheddar cheese
- 4 tablespoons butter
How To Make green onion grits

Step 1Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add salt and green parts of the onions and blanch for about 30 seconds. Remove with slotted spoon to a paper plate lined with a paper towel. Dry, slice small, and place in food processor with the olive oil. Process until smooth; set aside.

Step 2Add the milk, water, and salt and pepper to a large pot. Bring to a boil. Add the grits, stirring constantly and slowly. Reduce the heat to low, cover and cook about 20 minutes until done and creamy.

Step 3Add the cheese, butter and grean onion puree and cook until the cheese melts. Remove from heat and top with the whites of the green onions.
