These are very similar to refried beans without the frying. Soak overnight for faster cooking. Great for Mexican night :)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups dry pinto beans
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
  • 2 - slices smoked bacon
  • 2 cups water

How To Make frijoles

  • Step 1
    Place the beans,sugar, garlic, onions and bacon in slow cooker. Pour in water, cover and cook on high for 6 hours. Drain 2/3 liquid and discard bacon. Use a potato masher to mash beans to a chunky consistency. season with salt to taste and serve hot.
