Ingredients For fried green tomatoes

  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 c
    self-rising corn meal
  • 2 - 3 pinch
    salt
  • 2
    large green tomatoes
  • 1/2 c
    cooking oil
  • hot pepper jelly

How To Make fried green tomatoes

    Create a milk and egg bath by beating the egg and milk in a shallow bowl.
  • 2
    Slice tomatoes fairly thin. Sprinkle with salt, and allow to drain on paper towel.

    Dip tomato slices in egg/milk bath and then coat with cornmeal.

    Fry up tomato slices in hot oil in skillet on stovetop. Turn as needed to brown fully on each side.

    Drain on paper towel.
  • Raven's Original pepper jelly is the best!

    Serve hot with pepper jelly.
