Ingredients
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1 cup self-rising corn meal
- 2 - 3 pinches salt
- 2 large green tomatoes
- 1/2 cup cooking oil
- hot pepper jelly
How To Make fried green tomatoes

Step 1Create a milk and egg bath by beating the egg and milk in a shallow bowl.

Step 2Slice tomatoes fairly thin. Sprinkle with salt, and allow to drain on paper towel.

Step 3Dip tomato slices in egg/milk bath and then coat with cornmeal.

Step 4Fry up tomato slices in hot oil in skillet on stovetop. Turn as needed to brown fully on each side.

Step 5Drain on paper towel.

Step 6Serve hot with pepper jelly.
