Ma's friend June provided her with this recipe, which we found in her recipe box in NC in July 2019.

Ingredients For french onion pie, ma

  • w can
    french fried onions
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • dash
    cayenne
  • 1 c
    grated cheddar (use 1/2 swiss, 1/2 cheddar)
  • pastry shell, uncooked
  • paprika

How To Make french onion pie, ma

    Line pie pan with pastry and bake 10 min at 425 degrees then put onion on crust add rest, cheese last. dash of paprika on top.

    There was no time listed to cook rest of this pie, but you want to make sure that the eggs cook through, and I would personally put foil around the edges so the edges do not get overly browned or burnt.
