Ingredients
- FILLING
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 tablespoons onion flakes, or 1 large onion chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- - a pinch ground cardamom or 2 pods
- - salt and pepper
- BODY
- 1 package filo thawed
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
How To Make filo meat pie

Step 1In a skillet over medium low heat add all the ingredients for the filling. Stir to break up the beef and continue till it is all cooked through. (Discard cardamom pods if used.) Drain and set aside.

Step 2Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Brush a large rectangular oven pan with melted butter. Take 2 - 3 filo sheets and lay them in the pan, brush them with melted butter, add 2 - 3 more sheets and brush with butter. Repeat this till you use half the sheets.

Step 3Spread the meat filling evenly on top, then add the rest of the filo sheets the same way as before brushing with melted butter every 2 - 3 sheets. Cut or score into 12 pieces.

Step 4In a medium bowl whisk the eggs, add the milk and pepper and stir well. Pour all over the filo sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes or till golden brown.
