Ingredients
- 8 ounces large elbow macaroni
- 2 cups half-and-half
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 dash ground red pepper
- 3 ounces processed cheese, shredded (such as velveeta), about 3/4 cup
- 2 1/2 ounces extra-sharp cheddar cheese, shredded, about 2/3 cup
- 1/2 cup gruyere cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- - cooking spray
- 1/4 cup fresh breadcrumbs
How To Make easy stovetop mac and cheese

Step 1Preheat broiler to high.

Step 2Cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain.

Step 3While the pasta cooks, combine milk, flour, and peppers in a large saucepan, stirring with a whisk. Brink to a boil; cook for 4 minutes or until thick. Remove from the heat.

Step 4Add the cheeses and salt to the milk mixture. Stir until smooth. Add the pasta, and stir to coat.

Step 5Spoon the mixture into a glass or ceramic baking dish coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top; broil for 2 minutes or until browned.
