This comes from a 1968 Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. It is the first recipe I ever used for baked beans and I have never replaced it with another. When I take it to a potluck or family reunion, I always take home an empty dish. My son adds BBQ sauce to his.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 tablespoons bacon drippings
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cans pork and beans in tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard

How To Make easy baked beans

  • Step 1
    Cook 4 slices bacon till crisp; drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings. Crumble bacon.
  • Step 2
    Cook 1/2 cup chopped onion in drippings till tender;
  • Step 3
    Add onions and bacon to pork and beans in tomato sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and prepared mustard; mix well.
  • Step 4
    Bake uncovered in 1 1/2 quart casserole at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours
