This comes from a 1968 Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. It is the first recipe I ever used for baked beans and I have never replaced it with another. When I take it to a potluck or family reunion, I always take home an empty dish. My son adds BBQ sauce to his.

  • 4 slice
    bacon
  • 2 Tbsp
    bacon drippings
  • 1/2 c
    chopped onions
  • 2 can(s)
    pork and beans in tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp
    prepared mustard

How to Make Easy Baked Beans

Step-by-Step

  1. Cook 4 slices bacon till crisp; drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings. Crumble bacon.
  2. Cook 1/2 cup chopped onion in drippings till tender;
  3. Add onions and bacon to pork and beans in tomato sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and prepared mustard; mix well.
  4. Bake uncovered in 1 1/2 quart casserole at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours
