creamed sliced onions a simple, basic side dish

A basic ole recipe. Nothing fancy or smancie. Just plain good cooking. I have served this with salmon patties.....etc. Try it you might like it. Sorta nice to go back to your grandma's cooking. You will never find this in a can!!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sliced white onions
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
  • 1 cup milk
  • - dash of pepper

How To Make creamed sliced onions a simple, basic side dish

  • Step 1
    Peel and slice onions. Cook , covered in a large amount of boiling salted water till tender. 20-ti 25 minutes. Drain. In another saucepan mix butter,flour, salt and thyme, and a dash of pepper. Blend in milk, cook , stirring constantly,till thickened and bubbly. Stir in the cooked onion slices Heat and serve.
