I have been making cranberry sauce this way for years and years. It's so easy that you will never buy canned cranberry sauce again, and even cranberry sauce haters might like this one! Don't wait for a special occasion. This sauce is a wonderful accompaniment to poultry, meat or fish. Try adding two chopped apples and/or 1/2 cup coarse chopped walnuts along with the cranberries for a change.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup orange juice, pulp free
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 - 12 oz bag fresh cranberries

How To Make cranberry orange sauce

  • Step 1
Combine sugar, cinnamon and orange juice in a sauce pan over medium heat. Cook and stir until orange juice is dissolved.
  • Step 2
Rinse cranberries and add to orange juice sugar mixture. Continue to cook until cranberries pop, approximately 10 minutes.
  • Step 3
Remove from heat, transfer to a bowl and refrigerate. Sauce will thicken as it cools. For best results, make two to three days in advance to allow flavors to blend.
