This was my grandmother's cornbread dressing recipe. It is a staple every single holiday. She used to make the chicken stock from scratch (as does my mother-in-law when making this). However, I'm going to try to make it soon with store bought to see if I can tell a dramatic difference.

    pan cooked cornbread
  • 4 c
    chicken stock
  • 1 bunch
    green onions, chopped
  • 1 can(s)
    creamed corn
  • 1
    small onion, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp
  • 4-5
  • 1/4 c
  • ·
    salt & pepper, to taste

How to Make Cornbread Dressing


  1. In a large bowl, crumble cornbread finely. Pour stock over the cornbread.
  2. Saute green onions and onion in butter for 5 minutes until onions are clear. Pour into cornbread mixture.
  3. Add eggs, parsley, salt and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Pour into large greased casserole dish.
  5. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes, until center is firm.
