This was my grandmother's cornbread dressing recipe. It is a staple every single holiday. She used to make the chicken stock from scratch (as does my mother-in-law when making this). However, I'm going to try to make it soon with store bought to see if I can tell a dramatic difference.

pan cooked cornbread
4 c
chicken stock
1 bunch
green onions, chopped
1 can(s)
creamed corn
small onion, chopped
3 Tbsp
1/4 c
salt & pepper, to taste

How to Make Cornbread Dressing


  • 1In a large bowl, crumble cornbread finely. Pour stock over the cornbread.
  • 2Saute green onions and onion in butter for 5 minutes until onions are clear. Pour into cornbread mixture.
  • 3Add eggs, parsley, salt and pepper. Mix well.
  • 4Pour into large greased casserole dish.
  • 5Bake at 350 for 45 minutes, until center is firm.
