My first turkey came with feathers and all. Thankful next year the bird was dressed and ready to be cooked. Date 1954.

Ingredients

  • 1 - 2 cup recipe of baked cornbread
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 - stalk celery, chopped about 2 cups
  • - chicken or turkey broth as needed
  • 1 tablespoon sage or poltery seasoning, adjust to taste
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • OPTIONAL
  • 1 pound cooked sausage or
  • 1 can oysters or fresh oysters

How To Make cornbread dressing

  • Step 1
    Bake cornbread the day before and crumble.
  • Step 2
    Add to cornbread onions and celery.
  • Step 3
    Add a cup at a time broth until wet enough for your taste.
  • Step 4
    Add seasonings and taste to adjust.
  • Step 5
    Place in greased pan and bake at 400 degrees about 20 minutes or until brown.
