This has been handed down from my grandma. She was such an awesome cook. I loved to help her and learned so much from her. So very good flavor, and old fashioned goodness.

5 lb. Chicken
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons chopped onion
- 1/4 cup butter
- 4 cups dry bread crumbs ( about 7 slices)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon ground sage
- 2-4 tablespoons water or chicken broth
How To Make bread stuffing

Step 1Cook onion in butter.

Step 2Combine with bread crumbs and seasonings.

Step 3Toss with enough liquid to moisten crumbs.

Step 4If you want to stuff the bird, do so at this time. I like to put mine in a jelly roll pan and brown the crumbs under the broiler first.

Step 5Makes enough to stuff a 5 lb. chicken. For a 10 lb turkey, you will need to double the recipe.
