I've been canning these pickles for close to 30 years - they are a family favorite. Received the recipe from my mother in law.

I generally double the recipe.

    cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 1
    medium onion, sliced
  • 1 c
  • 1 c
  • 1 Tbsp
    coarse salt
  • 1 tsp
    mustard seed
  • 1/2 tsp
    celery seed
  • 1/4 tsp

How to Make Bread & Butter Pickles


  1. In large saucepan, mix together cucumber, and onion; pour in spices. Stir in vinegar.

    Bring to full boil. Pack in sterilized jars, leaving 1/2" head space and seal.

    Process 10 minutes – 2 pints
