bread & butter pickles

I've been canning these pickles for close to 30 years - they are a family favorite. Received the recipe from my mother in law. I generally double the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 - cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 1 - medium onion, sliced
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon coarse salt
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric

How To Make bread & butter pickles

  • Step 1
    In large saucepan, mix together cucumber, and onion; pour in spices. Stir in vinegar. Bring to full boil. Pack in sterilized jars, leaving 1/2" head space and seal. Process 10 minutes – 2 pints
