My sister Carole gave me this recipe and I have been making them in the summers. My neighbors and friends love them. It's so easy. I find cute jars and place a fun label I make on my computer when I give as gifts.

makes 2 quarts (prep time is due to cutting onion and cukes)

  • 2 c
    thin sliced cucumbers
  • 1 medium
    thin sliced onion
  • 1 c
  • 1/2 c
    white vinegar
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    mustard seed
  • 1/4 tsp
    celery seed
  • 1/4 tsp

How to Make Bread & Butter Pickles


  1. Mix all in a 2 quart microwaveable safe dish with cover.
  2. Cook on high for 7-10 minutes. Stir two times while cooking.
  3. Let cool and refrigerate.
  4. Will keep in refrigerator for weeks or freezer. I give as gifts during summer months. Great to put on burgers or just eat by themselves.
