My sister Carole gave me this recipe and I have been making them in the summers. My neighbors and friends love them. It's so easy. I find cute jars and place a fun label I make on my computer when I give as gifts.

yield makes 2 quarts (prep time is due to cutting onion and cukes)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups thin sliced cucumbers
  • 1 medium thin sliced onion
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon tumeric

How To Make bread & butter pickles

  • Step 1
    Mix all in a 2 quart microwaveable safe dish with cover.
  • Step 2
    Cook on high for 7-10 minutes. Stir two times while cooking.
  • Step 3
    Let cool and refrigerate.
  • Step 4
    Will keep in refrigerator for weeks or freezer. I give as gifts during summer months. Great to put on burgers or just eat by themselves.
