I'm not such a food snob that I can't have canned foods EVER. One of my favorite exceptions are baked beans. (Looking at you, B&M). But even so, I usually doctor them up in some way. Here's one of my favorites!

Ingredients For boozy bbq beans

  • 2 can
    baked beans (28 oz each)
  • 6 slice
    bacon, chopped or diced
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 c
    sweet onions, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    heinz catsup
  • 3 Tbsp
    yellow mustard (or more to taste)
  • 1/4 c
    molasses
  • 2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 3 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    bourbon

How To Make boozy bbq beans

    Open the beans and drain them. Yes. Drain them! Rinse well, then place in a bowl.

    Next, cook the bacon in a large frying pan until it is crispy. Add the garlic and onion and saute until the onion is soft, abut 5-6 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.

    Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350F. When the sauce has finished simmering, taste and adjust seasoning, including salt and pepper.

    Pour the sauce over the beans and stir to mix thoroughly. Pour the beans in to the casserole, then place in the oven and cook for 60 minutes. Serve while still pretty hot.
