boozy bbq beans
I'm not such a food snob that I can't have canned foods EVER. One of my favorite exceptions are baked beans. (Looking at you, B&M). But even so, I usually doctor them up in some way. Here's one of my favorites!

Ingredients
- 2 cans baked beans (28 oz each)
- 6 slices bacon, chopped or diced
- 2 tablespoons fresh garlic, minced
- 1 cup sweet onions, chopped
- 1/2 cup heinz catsup
- 3 tablespoons yellow mustard (or more to taste)
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup bourbon
How To Make boozy bbq beans
-
Step 1Open the beans and drain them. Yes. Drain them! Rinse well, then place in a bowl.
-
Step 2Next, cook the bacon in a large frying pan until it is crispy. Add the garlic and onion and saute until the onion is soft, abut 5-6 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
-
Step 3Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350F. When the sauce has finished simmering, taste and adjust seasoning, including salt and pepper.
-
Step 4Pour the sauce over the beans and stir to mix thoroughly. Pour the beans in to the casserole, then place in the oven and cook for 60 minutes. Serve while still pretty hot.
