bj's simple bread stuffing
(1 RATING)
I love a simple & basic stuffing and it seems to be a favorite with our Thanksgiving Turkey. My Mother use to make a thicker stuffing & add oysters or sausage. Most everyone seems to enjoy this because it's very light & My Mother told me that she likes it better than her traditional stuffing.

Ingredients
- 2 large loaves of reg. white bread ( not fresh...day old)
- 1 box stove top (chicken) stuffing
- 2 sticks butter, melted
- 1 medium chopped white onion

- 1 cup apple sauce
How To Make bj's simple bread stuffing
-
Step 1In a large pan, crumble white bread & add stuffing mix. In separate pan melt butter & saute chopped onion & chopped celery. Pour this over bread mixture.
-
Step 2Add beaten eggs, chicken broth, salt, pepper, applesauce, poultry seasoning. Mix well.
-
Step 3Pour into a lg. well greased (with butter) baking pan so stuffing is about 1/2 inch thick. Bake in preheated 350o oven for about 30 min. or until golden brown.
-
Step 4* Make sure you have enough broth that your stuffing is not dry even if you open another box. If you have fresh Turkey broth, you can use that.
-
Step 5* Also, the older your white bread, the better.
