This is how my mom makes her stuffing

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 large diced onion
  • 1-2 cup diced celery with leaves
  • 15 cups toasted 1/2 inch bread cubes
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage or 1/4 cup minced fresh sage
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 cup turkey stock, water, or milk

How To Make basic bread stuffing

  • Step 1
    Melt butter in large stockpot.
  • Step 2
    Add onion and celery and cook until vegetables are tender but not browned.
  • Step 3
    Add to bread cubes in large bowl.
  • Step 4
    Add salt, pepper, sage, and parsley and toss until well mixed.
  • Step 5
    Add turkey stock and blend well.
  • Step 6
    Use to stuff 12 to 14 pound turkey.
  • Step 7
    Bake leftover stuffing in lightly greased casserole at 325 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until heated through.
