- 6 medium tart apples
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup bacon drippings
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 dash nutmeg
How To Make southern fried apples (cracker barrel style)

Step 1In a large skillet, melt bacon dripping or butter. Pour cut up bits of apples evenly over skillet bottom. Sprinkle lemon juice over them, then brown sugar, then salt. Cover and cook over low heat for 15 minutes until apples are tender a juicy. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.
