This warm fragrant side dish reminds me of my grandmother Lexie's kitchen. She was a wonderful cook and my siblings and I have such special memories of Sunday dinner at my grandparents' house.

- 3 to 4 - large granny smith apples
- 1 1/2 - cup water
- 1/4 - cup packed brown sugar
- 2 - tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 - teaspoon salt
- 1/2 - teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 - teaspoon nutmeg
How To Make cool weather stewed apples

Step 1Wash, core, peel, and slice the apples. (Combine all of the dry ingredients together before adding to the apples and water.)

Step 2In a medium-size saucepan over low heat combine the apples, water, brown sugar, flour, salt, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg and cook for 30 to 40 minutes.

Step 3Simmer until the apples are tender, but not too soft. 6 servings
