bourbon maple syrup baked pears

I needed something sweet to serve alongside Thanksgiving dinner one year, that was not a dessert. Threw this together easily and there were none left-over. :)

Ingredients

  • 4 - ripe red pears
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon soft brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 1 package chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 cup bourbon barrel aged maple syrup
  • 0 if you cannot find this surup, 1/2 tsp bourbon in 1 c maple syrup will work.

How To Make bourbon maple syrup baked pears

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400. Slice pears in half and carve out the very middle of each half, place cut side up in a glass baking dish
  • Step 2
    Mix spices, brown sugar, and syrup in a bowl
  • Step 3
    Drizzle half of the syrup mixture over the top of the pears
  • Step 4
    Place pears in oven and bake for 10 minutes
  • Step 5
    Pull pears out of oven and top with the chopped nuts and drizzle with the rest of the syrup mixture.
  • Step 6
    Place pears back into oven and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the tip of the pear skin curls and pear is soft
  • Step 7
    Serve warm.
