3/4 c
cider vinegar
1 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
4 c
halved and pitted blue plums
3/4 c
1/3 c
chopped onions
grated rind and juice of 1 lemon
1/3 c
finely chopped preserved ginger
3 clove
garlic,finely chopped
1 Tbsp
mustard seed
1/2 tsp
crushed red pepper
2 tsp
1 tsp
allspice, ground

How to Make Blue Plum Chutney


  • 1In a heavy stainless steel saucepan bring vinegar to a boil and stir in brown sugar.
  • 2Add the plums,raisins,onions,rind and juice of lemon,ginger,garlic,mustard seed,red pepper,salt and allspice. Simmer about 1 hour, or until thickened.
  • 3Pour into clean jars to within 1/2 inch of the top and cap. Process in a hot water bath for 5 minutes
