1 pound large raw shrimp (21 to 25 per pound), peeled and deveined but with tails left on
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/4 cup unsalted blanched peanuts (see Cook's Note)
4 large cloves garlic, peeled
3 fresh red Thai or cayenne chiles, stems removed (see Cook's Note)
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 cup unsweetened reduced-fat coconut milk (see Cook's Note)
1-1/2 teaspoons coarse kosher or sea salt
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro leaves and tender stems
