sweet and salty peanut butter frosting
I could eat this with a spoon! Ok, ok, I DID eat it with a spoon. Then I ate some more on a chocolate cupcake, and dang it, where are some graham crackers when I need? I love the creamy mild peanut butter flavor, the tang of the salt and that it is not overpoweringly sweet.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla powder or vanilla extract
- 1/2 bottle yellow food coloring
- 2-3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt (not as fine as regular table salt, but not as big as kosher salt)
- 3 tablespoons 2 % milk
How To Make sweet and salty peanut butter frosting
-
Step 1Let the butter soften at room temperature for 2-3 hours.
-
Step 2Put the butter, peanut butter, food coloring if using, and vanilla powder in a large bowl and cream with a mixer.
-
Step 3Stop the mixer, add the powdered sugar and mix again. It will be clumpy and yucky, just keep mixing. After 30 seconds or so, it should come together.
-
Step 4Add the milk, more or less, to get the desired consistency. Mix well and then sprinkle with salt and mix in.
