How To Make mar's apple butter
-
Step 1Return apple sauce to pot the apples were simmered in & add remaining ingredients. Transfer to a large, deep GLASS or CERAMIC casserole dish (anything but metal). Place in oven @ 450 for 1 hour. Stir & reduce heat to 350 & cook for another 5-7 hours stirring every hour & every 30 minutes as it thickens. I baked mine for about 7-8 hours & reduced the heat to 250 in the last 1-2 hours.
-
Step 2May also be left in simmer pot and cooked on stove or in your crock-pot. But I believe the oven adds a certain richness!! DO NOT USE YOUR CROCK-POT IN THE OVEN! I CRACKED MINE!! :'(
