This recipe I found in the Food Lovers Companion book. This recipe is a great addition for sauces or soups because it can be boiled and it won't curdle. Serve also spooned over fresh fruit or warm cobblers.

How to Make Home made Creme Fraiche (Krehm Fresh)


  1. pour heavy cream into a quart mason jar (I usually double recipe) and add buttermilk and stir.
  2. set this mixture on your counter, cover opening loosely, and leave on counter for approx 8 to 24 hours. Stir well add lid and refrigerate up to 10 days.
