This rich, smooth and creamy frosting is so easy and so good. You really don't even need a recipe if you can remember the four ingredients. It is just one of each. It's great on carrot cakes, cinnamon rolls etc...

Ingredients

  • 1 - 8 oz. packages cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 stick salted butter, softened (1/2 cup or 8 tablespoons)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 box confectioners sugar (16 oz. or 1 lb.)

How To Make easy cream cheese frosting

  • Step 1
    Using an electric mixer, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth and well combined, scraping down sides of bowl several times.
  • Step 2
    Add 1 teaspoon vanilla; add confectioners sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Step 3
    Beat until smooth and creamy, scraping sides of bowl down several times.
  • Step 4
    Generously frosts a 9"X13" cake, 12 cupcakes or one 2 or 3 layer cake. Great on cinnamon rolls, too!
