Ingredients For cowboy butter

  • 1 c
    salted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1 tsp
    dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    Dijon mustard
  • 4-5 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh chives, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh parsley, minced
  • 1 tsp
    lemon zest
  • 1 tsp
    lemon juice

How To Make cowboy butter

  • Room temperature butter in a bowl with cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, chili powder, thyme, and black pepper.

    In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, chili powder, thyme, and black pepper.
  • Add Dijon mustard, minced garlic, chives, parsley, lemon zest, and lemon juice.

  • Mix with a rubber spatula.

  • Butter in the center of a piece of plastic wrap.

  • Bring the plastic wrap together and twist the ends to seal.

    Bring the sides of the plastic wrap together. Shape the butter into a log. Twist the ends to ensure everything is sealed. Refrigerate for 6 - 8 hours.
  • Add a slice on top of cooked meat or use as a dipping sauce.

    To serve, slice the butter and add to cooked steak, fish, or chicken. Cowboy Butter can also be used as a dipping sauce for bread or meat.
