coney hot dog sauce

I am disabled and live in Wisconsin... not a good combination in the winter! The kids wanted coney dogs and I didn't have all the ingredients to make the sauce... so I developed this recipe with what I had in the house. This is the easies coney sauce that I make! Just three ingredients and three steps! This is kid friendly and grown ups like it too! *** You can add hot sauce to spice it up... but we usually do it individually on each bun for the adults and it adds another layer of flavor. *** Like I said... I'm from Wisconsin.... you can top a coney dog with cheddar cheese! *** This can easily be doubled or tripled for parties and pot lucks.

prep time 10 Min
cook time 15 Min
method Stove Top
yield 8-12 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1 can hormel chili with beans (creamed in blender or food processor)
  • 1 small onion (minced fine)
  • 1/2 pound ground beef

How To Make coney hot dog sauce

  • Step 1
Cream the Hormel Chili with beans in a blender or food processor.
  • Step 2
Put ground beef and onion in a skillet and brown well...be careful not to burn the onions (they get bitter when too dark). Drain off all the fat.
  • Step 3
Add the creamed Hormel chili to the meat and onion in the skillet. Simmer together for 3 minutes stirring constantly. That is all you have to do! Serve on hot dogs with mustard and minced onions. You can also top it with cheddar cheese.
