Got this recipe from any older lady at our church. She was a really good cook.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 stick butter (if you use margarine icing will be softer)
  • 1/4 cup milk, 2% (i measure out the milk and allow it to set while measuring and cooking )
  • 2 cups powdered sugar,sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make carmel icing

  • Step 1
    melt butter then add brown sugar
  • Step 2
    Cook over medium heat,stirring
  • Step 3
    bring to boil and allow to boil 2 minutes
  • Step 4
    add milk and bring back to boil
  • Step 5
    Add powdered sugasr, mixing well and then add vanilla
  • Step 6
    take off heat and allow to cool about a minute
  • Step 7
    Icing cake quickly as icing will start to harden fast.
