Got this recipe from any older lady at our church. She was a really good cook.

Add to Grocery List

1 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
1 stick
butter (if you use margarine icing will be softer)
1/4 c
milk, 2% (i measure out the milk and allow it to set while measuring and cooking )
2 c
powdered sugar,sifted
1 tsp
vanilla extract

How to Make Carmel Icing


  • 1melt butter then add brown sugar
  • 2Cook over medium heat,stirring
  • 3bring to boil and allow to boil 2 minutes
  • 4add milk and bring back to boil
  • 5Add powdered sugasr, mixing well and then add vanilla
  • 6take off heat and allow to cool about a minute
  • 7Icing cake quickly as icing will start to harden fast.
