Ingredients

1 1/2 c
sugar
3/4 c
buttermilk
1/2 c
butter, or margarine
2 Tbsp
karo syrup
1 tsp
baking soda
2 tsp
vanilla extract

Step-By-Step

1In a saucepan, combine the first five ingredients; bring to a boil. Boil for 7 minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla
2Note:
To make more of a caramel flavored version, keep the heat on med while stirring to decrease foam. Stir constantly to avoid any burning and take off heat as soon as it is thickened and a little darker in color. About 5 more minutes
