Ingredients

  • 3 qt
    unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 lb
    granulated sugar
  • 1 lb
    brown sugar
  • 3/4 c
    apple cider
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp
    allspice
  • 3/4 tsp
    cloves
  • 3 tsp
    cinnamon

How to Make Apple Butter

Step-by-Step

  1. Stir applesauce, sugars, and cider together and cook in a slow oven (325 degrees) for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add spices and return to oven and cook 1 hour more.
  3. Apple butter requires long, slow cooking. (Can also be made in a crockpot).
