homemade taco seasoning mix
This is a simple recipe that makes about the equivalent of 3 prepared packages. ETA After reading Bea's comment I thought that I should mention here that I rarely add salt to anything.......except popcorn and corn on the cob. lol. So from what Bea said......it sounds like 1 teaspoon of salt should work in this mix if you choose to add it. :)

Ingredients
- 6 teaspoons chile powder
- 5 teaspoons paprika
- 4 1/2 teaspoons cumin
- 3 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
How To Make homemade taco seasoning mix

Step 1In storage container with tight-fitting lid, combine all ingredients, mix well. Seal tightly. Store in cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

Step 2Makes 21 teaspoons (about 1/2 cup). Seven teaspoons of mix equal a 1.25 oz. pkg. of purchased taco seasoning mix.

Step 3TIPS: Cumin, an herb, is ground from cumin seeds, and there is no substitute for its flavor.
