homemade italian herb mix
I like to make my own mixes from herbs and spices I have on hand so I don't have to buy several expensive containers of premixed seasonings. Herbs don't have a long shelf life so you don't want to have large amounts on hand. Make enough to last a year.

Makes enough to half fill a regular spice jar.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon basil, dried
- 1 tablespoon marjoram, dried
- 1 tablespoon oregano, dried
- 1/2 tablespoon rosemary, cut and sifted
- 1/2 tablespoon thyme, dried
- 1 pinch garlic powder (optional, especially if you cook with fresh garlic)

Step 1Grind together with a mortar and pestle or whatever spice grinder you use.

Step 2Store in an airtight container in a dark place.
