My Grandmother used to make a tomato chutney to go with beef.I'm sorry I don't have her recipe,although she never measured,I watched her make this many times This is my version,of course it's not as good as my Grandmother's. These are approximate measurements,you really have to taste as you go along.It should be slightly tart from vinegar,flavorful and spicy. My Grandmother didn't like garlic she rarely cooked with it.Growing up we didn't cook with garlic either.Now I can't cook without it!

Ingredients

  • - 4 c ripe tomatoes,minced
  • - 1/3 c white onions,minced
  • - 1/2 c white vinegar
  • - 1/3 c jalapeños,minced
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • - garlic,minced.optional

How To Make tomato chutney

  • Step 1
    Combine all ingredients in a pot,bring to a boil.Simmer until thick.
