I grew up in upstate PA on the border of NY. One of the great treats was to go to Wellsville, NY to the Texas Hot diner! They had the best hot dogs! This is a close replica of their sauce.

- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Step 1Melt butter in sausepan over low heat, add ground beef and onions, add spices and just enough water to cover. Simmer over low heat until meat is cooked and sauce thickens, stir occasionally, about 30 minutes Grill all beef hot dogs, steam the buns, layer yellow mustard, hot dog, sauce, chopped onions and enjoy
