There is this great Chinese restaurant that serves the best plum sauce and I could never find a packaged plum sauce that even came close. Once I made this one I found out why. It is made by scratch. This sauce is almost identical to the plum sauce at China Fair. Yum

brown sugar
2 c
1 1/2 c
apple cider vinegar
1 c
finely chopped onion
4 Tbsp
finely chopped sweet chili pepper
2 Tbsp
mustard seed
1 Tbsp
4 clove
garlic minced
2 Tbsp
fresh ginger minced
10 c
fresh pitted chopped plums

How to Make Fresh Asian Plum Sauce


  • 1Mix all ingredients together in large pan. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer and simmer 2 hours.
  • 2Strain through a fine mesh strainer pressing pulp to get our as much juice as possible.
  • 3Ladle into jars and process in water bath for 20 minutes. If not canning store in fridge.
  • 4Makes about 4 pint jars
