My husband loves to experiment in the kitchen with a few things. BBQ is one of them. I finally got him to measure and write down his recipe for homemade BBQ sauce.

This BBQ sauce has just the right bite. It definitely has some heat for those who like it ... but not enough to scare others away.

Ingredients
- 1/2 large yellow onion, chopped
- 3 - green onions, chopped
- 1/2 cup Vlasic hot pepper rings, chopped and 2 tablespoons juice
- 2 bottles Kraft hickory smoke bbq sauce
- 1 3/4 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon French's prepared yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 4 teaspoons tabasco sauce
- 8 ounces honey
How To Make dad's bbq sauce

Step 1In a deep saucepan, sauté both types of onions in a little olive oil until tender over medium-high heat.

Step 2Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower heat to medium-low and continue to simmer until mixture has thickened, about 30 minutes. Stir occasionally. Keep refrigerated.
