This is a favorite holiday sauce that I make and share every year. Even those who have previously disliked traditional cranberry sauce can enjoy the milder, less tart flavor of this one. It gets rave reviews and recipe requests every time!

Ingredients

  • 1 medium navel orange
  • 4 medium pears, peeled and coarsely chopped
  • 12 ounces fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger or 1 tsp grated fresh gingerroot
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice

How To Make cranberry pear relish

  • Step 1
    Squeeze juice from the orange, removing the seeds; add enough water to measure 1/2 cup. Pour into a saucepan; add all the remaining ingredients.
  • Step 2
    Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 25 to 30 minutes or until the cranberries pop and mixture is thickened. Cool mixture and cover, storing in the refrigerator.
